The article examines the role and significance of the electrical equipment market in supporting Ukraine’s economic infrastructure under wartime challenges and in the restoration of the energy sector following enemy attacks. The key market buyers and its structural features are identified. The dynamics of production and sales volumes of electrical equipment in Ukraine are analyzed over a period of socio-economic instability caused by the annexation of territories, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the full-scale war. Particular attention is paid to the dynamics of business entities operating under KVED 27 (Manufacture of electrical equipment) during 2010–2024.
Changes in the regional structure of electrical equipment production in Ukraine over the period 2014–2024 are identified, revealing a shift toward increasing production volumes in Kyiv and relatively safe regions. The industry structure of the electrical equipment market is analyzed, showing that the largest market shares are accounted for by the manufacture of wires, cables, and electrical installation devices (KVED 27.3) (37%), as well as the manufacture of electric motors, generators, transformers, and power distribution and control equipment (KVED 27.1) (29%).
It was found that the key market leaders in the electrical equipment sector include cable and wire manufacturers such as Zaporizhzhia Non-Ferrous Metals Plant LLC, PJSC “Pivdenkabel Plant”, PJSC “Odeskabel” Odesa Cable Plant, as well as Schröder LLC (lighting equipment production) and Radionix LLC (manufacturing of radar systems and optoelectronic equipment).
Based on the conducted analysis, the main trends in the development of the electrical equipment market are determined. Furthermore, the article proposes a set of measures aimed at addressing existing problems and structural imbalances, including stimulating the development of domestic production, reducing import dependence and diversifying supply sources, promoting technological modernization and innovation, harmonizing standards and technical regulation, stimulating domestic demand and public procurement, improving the investment climate, and fostering human capital development.
